Meet the BACE Team: Shayna Sutherland

Get to know the employees behind the biotechnology industry’s preferred hiring credential.

Shayna SutherlandShayna Sutherland is a native of Gainesville, Florida. She joined the Biotility team in the summer of 2023 as an Instructional Design Assistant. With her keen attention to detail, she is in charge of reviewing the BACE exam question pool, which includes double checking references, questions, and answers.

Shayna appreciates that she has a lot of great coworkers who are always ready to help out the new guy and answer questions. Having a science background herself, Shayna says the educational opportunity in her role is enormous — researching each question helps refresh her memory on aspects of her education that have gone unused for years.

Shayna says she wants to work towards being a valuable member of the team, and also hopefully be able to expand her role to include other aspects of testing and lab work.

We asked Shayna a few questions so you can get to know her better:

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I spent much of my youth aiming to be a veterinarian, but by high school, biological research called to me.

What is your favorite travel destination, or where would you most like to travel?

Someday I’d really like to see Great Britain.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to play Skee Ball, bake, knit, play video games, and pet my cats. (Editor’s note: Shayna is the proud new owner of a full-size Skee Ball machine and is also an amazing baker!)
