Comparative Proteomics: Protein Profiling
Description
Students will use SDS PAGE to generate protein profiles from fish muscles. By comparing the variation between the size of the actin and myosin muscle proteins, students will be able to determine the extent to which their fish samples are genetically related. Skills involved include: pipetting, protein electrophoresis, analysis of results and creation of a cladogram from gel data.
