Quality Control Technician Credential (QCTC)
Purpose and Value
Quality control serves a vital function in ensuring the safety, efficacy, and sterility of manufactured products in regulated life science industries. The Quality Control Technician Credential (QCTC) validates your ability to perform product testing, process and environmental monitoring, and documentation activities that support compliance with CGMP, GLP, and regulatory standards. The QCTC is designed for professionals working in or entering roles that ensure product integrity and operational quality in pharmaceutical, biotech, and sterile manufacturing environments.
Credential Highlights
- Demonstrates understanding of laboratory techniques, analytical methods, and documentation standards
- Verifies knowledge of contamination control, environmental monitoring, and cleanroom protocols
- Confirms readiness to maintain data integrity and comply with regulatory requirements
- Signals proficiency in quality assurance, CGMP principles, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Whether you are entering the workforce or advancing within your current role, the QCTC serves as a powerful indicator of technical capability and industry preparedness.

Earning Your Credential: The QCTCE Exam
To earn the Quality Control Technician Credential, candidates must take and pass the Quality Control Technician Credentialing Exam (QCTCE). This exam evaluates readiness to perform core quality control functions in compliance with current industry standards. Content is organized across six key domains: laboratory skills and techniques, contamination and quality control, documentation and record-keeping, regulatory compliance, cleanroom operations, and data analysis and reporting.
The QCTCE is a closed-book, computer-based exam delivered online through the University of Florida’s e-Learning platform and remotely proctored via ProctorU. The exam includes approximately 75 multiple-choice, scenario-based, and true/false questions, administered in a single two-hour session. A passing score of 80 percent is required to earn the credential, which is valid for five years.
Exam Fee: The QCTCE costs $215 per attempt.
Biotech companies operate under strict regulations from agencies like the FDA, EMA, and OSHA. Credentialed professionals are already familiar with these regulatory frameworks, which helps ensure compliance and avoid costly legal issues.
